KIRYU ALOHA
Pattern dyeing Matsuba XL
Pattern dyeing Matsuba XL
From the small patterns dyed to resemble scattered pine needles.
The Matsuba pattern is said to have been the designated komon (pattern used on kimono) of Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, the fifth shogun of the Edo shogunate.
Pine needles have the meaning of ``continuity'' and ``harmony'' because two pine needles are connected without losing their shape even when they fall.
Pine trees also have the meaning of ``dignity,'' ``longevity,'' and ``prosperity,'' as they do not change color throughout the year and even survive the winter.
